What Is a Tax Inclusive Calculator?

A Tax Inclusive Calculator helps you determine how much tax is already included in a total price or how much tax should be added to a pre-tax price. It can be used for percentage-based VAT, GST, and sales tax calculations when the applicable tax rate is known.

Tax Inclusive vs Tax Exclusive

Tax inclusive means the total price already includes tax. Tax exclusive means tax is added separately on top of the base price.

Tax Inclusive and Exclusive Formulas

Tax Inclusive Formula

Net Price = Gross Price ÷ (1 + Tax Rate ÷ 100)
Tax Amount = Gross Price − Net Price

Tax Exclusive Formula

Tax Amount = Net Price × Tax Rate ÷ 100
Gross Price = Net Price + Tax Amount

What Can You Calculate With This Tool?

  • Tax included in a total price
  • VAT, GST, and sales tax amounts
  • Gross and net price conversion

Example: Calculate Tax From an Inclusive Price

Suppose the total price is $1,100 and it already includes 10% tax.

Net Price = $1,100 ÷ (1 + 10 ÷ 100) = $1,000
Tax Amount = $1,100 − $1,000 = $100

The $1,100 total therefore contains $1,000 of pre-tax price and $100 of tax.

Tax Inclusive Calculator FAQs

Answers to common questions about tax-inclusive pricing, tax extraction, VAT, GST, and sales tax calculations.

A Tax Inclusive Calculator determines how much tax is already included in a total price. It can separate the tax amount from the gross price and calculate the net price before tax.
Divide the total price by 1 plus the tax rate expressed as a decimal. For example, with a $1,100 total including 10% tax, the net price is $1,100 ÷ 1.10 = $1,000. The included tax is therefore $100.
Reverse tax calculation means extracting the tax portion from a tax-inclusive total to determine the original price before tax and the amount of tax included in the total.
Tax-inclusive pricing means the displayed total already contains the applicable tax. Tax-exclusive pricing starts with the pre-tax price and adds the applicable tax to calculate the final total.
The net price is the amount before the applicable tax, while the gross price is the total amount after tax is included. In a tax-inclusive calculation, the gross price contains both the net price and the tax amount.

About This Tax Inclusive Calculator

A transparent calculator built to help users understand and calculate tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive prices.

The Ufixay Tax Inclusive Calculator is designed to calculate the tax portion included in a total price and determine the corresponding net price before tax. It also provides a tax-exclusive calculation for adding a percentage-based tax to a pre-tax amount.

The calculator uses standard percentage-based formulas. For a tax-inclusive amount, the gross price is divided by 1 plus the tax rate expressed as a decimal. The included tax is then calculated as the difference between the gross price and the resulting net price.

For a tax-exclusive amount, the calculator applies the entered percentage tax rate to the pre-tax price and adds the resulting tax amount to determine the final total.

The tool is maintained by the Ufixay Finance Tools Team. Calculations are designed to be clear, consistent, and easy to verify so users can understand how the result was produced rather than relying on a result without context.
